As We Wait…Heart-to-Heart

The Bible was authored so supernaturally and strategically that at any season of life … it can be applied to the day in which we are living. The following scriptures were studied in light of our time of self-quarantining.

Joshua 4:23-24
“For the Lord your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over.
The Lord your God did to the Jordan just what He had done to the Red Sea when
He dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the
people of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that
you might always fear the Lord your God.”

March 2020 … life as we know it has dried up. God is using this time to assist us in crossing over from living our lives in the ‘old-normal’ into the ‘new-normal.’

Evaluating and clarifying thought, direction, and purpose takes time that we don’t think we have enough of. It seems like that kind of waiting would be a waste of time because we could be completing a project or something. I am still amazed at what it has taken to shut down the ‘every-day-ness’ of life!

Joshua says that, God is doing this “so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your God.”

Proverbs 5:21-13
“For a man’s ways are in full view of the Lord, and He examines all his paths. The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast. He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly. Lord, what are the deeds that ensnare me … what sin holds me fast … how can I
be more disciplined … what in my life do I value that is pure folly to You? As You examine my ways, Lord, please reveal to me what I am not seeing. I’m calling to You. In Jeremiah 33:3, You say that when I call to You, You will answer me and tell me “great and unsearchable things that I do not know.” I’m calling, Lord … I’m calling …”

John 7:16-18
“Jesus said, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from Him who sent Me. If anyone chooses to do God’s will, he will find out whether My teaching comes from God or whether I speak on My own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the One who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.””

Your church, Your body, Lord, consists of a chosen people. We sense the validation of this truth through the presence of Your Holy Spirit living within us. Along with Your choosing, You have given gifts, talents, and assignments to us that are to be guided by Your Spirit. Jesus, You said that Your teaching was not Your own and that it came from the One who sent You. You set the example for us to follow in Your footsteps.

Oh Lord, just now I am stricken with the realization that it is so easy to read and hear Your Word … to be trained to be the embodiment of Your Word … and then to go out and try to make it happen. Our intentions are noble as we think this is what is required of us, but then there is this question; what You began in the Spirit … shall we now try to complete it in the flesh???

Your thoughts and ways are so far above ours. So while we have time to read more of Your Word, listen, and ponder what You are saying to us, help us to expect:
• You to open our understand of what it is that You want to reveal to us
• Your Divine Guidance to be at work within us
• You to free us from our selfishness in order for the Life of Jesus to be empowered within
• Your Spirit to flow through us to complete what was begun in the Spirit
• Your Divine Intentions to be clarified and made visible!

As time is of the essence … Our determined purpose is that we may know You more deeply and intimately … with greater consistency … In Jesus’ Name, Amen
