From Pastor Steve’s Study:

“He who sent me is with me.  The Father has not left me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”  John 8:29

Two things occur to me when I look closely at this verse.  First, is the fact that the only way we can do what pleases God is to have a heart to please Him.  Actions without the right motivation and intent lose their meaning.  We have sinful actions because it is in our nature (DNA) to produce those actions.  In order to please God, our nature (DNA) must be transformed to that which naturally pleases Him.  That was the nature of Jesus.

Secondly, we please God by allowing Him to manifest His presence in those actions.  He has chosen to be with us, to partner with us in all things.  It is our walking with Him and allowing Him to work in communion with us that enables us to do what pleases Him.  With that, let me ask you to consider these questions.

  • Are you consistently allowing Him to transform you inwardly so that you can please Him outwardly?
  • Are you seeking Him in all things so that His presence is manifest and working in you and with you for His pleasure?

May we live this week for His pleasure.  Is there any other way to live?
