According to 2 Corinthians 10, a stronghold is “a habitual pattern of thought built into our thought life.”  Such a pattern takes root in our lives in two ways:

  • We yield to temptation over a period of time and the sinful action becomes habitual behavior
  • We experience a traumatic event causing a sinful reaction, leading to replaying that reaction again and again in other events

The enemy is fully aware of these behaviors and moves in to set up camp, when we are mostly unaware.  In time his camp becomes a fortress in which he attacks us over and over. So here is my prayer for each of you this week and beyond.

1.      That you always keep your heart open to allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the truth of your own sin and the enemy’s deception

2.      That you take every sin and stronghold very seriously

3.      That you humbly confess every sin and allow the blood of Jesus to cleanse you from all unrighteousness

4.      That you take the authority given you in Jesus name, renouncing and rejecting the enemy and his actions from your mind and life (it is best spoken out loud)

5.      That you rejoice in the Lord Jesus and worship Him for your deliverance and freedom

Next week we will consider:  What are the weapons of our warfare?  2 Cor. 10:4
